Tyree Robinson, Spokane Empire, Defensive Player of the Week

DEFENSIVE  PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tyree Robinson (DB, Spokane Empire)

In a high scoring, back and forth affair the Spokane Empire came up just short to the Wichita Falls Nighthawks 56-57 in Week 3. Big plays from Empire DB Tyree Robinson helped keep the  Empire in the game and slow the offensive onslaught of the Wichita Falls Nighthawks all night long. Less than a minute before halftime, Robinson snagged an interception from reigning IFL MVP Charles McCullum and then raced to the endzone to even up the score right before halftime. Robinson, who had 80 tackles for the Empire in 2016, led the team with nine tackles against the Nighthawks. He also added one tackle for loss and one pass breakup. The Spokane Empire travel to face off against inter-conference foe the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles in Week 4.
