SPOKANE, Washington – The Empire have signed former Morgan State University wide receiver Lamont Bryant and Eastern Washington University Cassidy Curtis to their 2017 IFL roster.

Bryant (WR, 6-6, 230, Morgan State) joins the Empire for his first season as a member of the IFL. He was signed as a free agent by the NFL's Carolina Panthers in 2012 and spent the entire season on the practice squad. After being released in 2013, Lamont spent time with the Tennessee Titans in 2014.

"Lamont Bryant is a big and fast receiver that adds another big body to our receiver group," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "He possesses a rare combination of size and speed that makes him extremely effective in the passing game, plus very tough to bring down once he catches the ball in space."

Bryant played his collegiate career at Morgan State University (MD) where he saw action in 34 total contests (12 starts). He earned All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference First Team selections as a senior and sophomore while recording 44 total catches for 677 yards, four touchdowns, and two blocked punts. Bryant played his prep career at Denbigh High School in Newport News, Virginia.

Curtis (OL, 6-6, 310, Eastern Washington) joins the Empire for his rookie IFL season in 2017. During his collegiate career as an Eagle, Cassidy saw action in 42 games between 2012-2015 as he helped the Eagles to three-straight Big Sky Titles and FCS Playoff appearances (2012-2014). In 2013, Cassidy earned Honorable Mention All-Big Sky honors while EWU went on to set Big Sky and school records in points (592), touchdowns (83), and yards on offense (8,002).

"Cassidy Curtis is a very well coached player with the tough guy attitude we look for in offensive lineman," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "He has the ability to dominate his opponents with technique and attitude. Being a local player from our favorite university in Cheney is a plus."

Cassidy played his prep career at Cherry Creek High School in Denver, Colorado where he earned honorable mention 5A All-State and first team All-Creek Conference honors.
