The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 1 of the 2017 IFL season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Charles McCullum (QB, Wichita Falls Nighthawks)
Defending IFL MVP Charles McCullum started off the 2017 season exactly where he left off in 2016. After leading the Nighthawks to the top ranked IFL offense last season, McCullum (6'2,205, Stillman College) exploded in team's 2017 debut helping defeat the Iowa Barnstormers 68-53. McCullum completed 25 of 30 passes for 235 yards and seven touchdowns. He spread the ball around efficiently as he completed 83 percent of his passes and threw a touchdown passes to five different wide receivers. Dating back to the last regular season game of the 2016 season, McCullum has now thrown for 18 touchdowns in back-to-back games. The dual-threat QB showed off his versatility as well as he also rushed for 25 yards and added a rushing touchdown. The Nighthawks travel to face the Nebraska Danger in Week 2.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rashard Smith (DB, Sioux Falls Storm)
The defending IFL champions Sioux Falls Storm spoiled the IFL debut of the Arizona in Week 1 downing the Rattlers 40-29. In a back and forth affair it was DB Rashard Smith's 58 yard interception return for a touchdown that helped provide the spark in a comeback affair. With the Storm trailing the Rattlers late in the third quarter, Smith (5'10, 180, North Carolina State) made a fingertip grab of Rattlers QB Darron Thomas pass at the one yard line and returned it 58 yards. Smith's interception return helped spark the Storm's comeback win at home as the team outscored the Rattlers 21- 0 in the last quarter and a half of play. Smith, a First Team All-IFL selection in 2016, finished the game with nine tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one interception, one touchdown and three pass breakups. The Sioux Falls Storm travel to face the Cedar Rapids Titans in Week 2.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Trey Wafford (DB, Nebraska Danger)
The Nebraska Danger opened up their 2017 season with a dominant 78-47 victory against the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles. Rookie DB Trey Wafford (5'11.200, Middle Tennessee State) was instrumental in helping the Danger jump to an early lead vs. the Screaming Eagles. Early in the first quarter, the Danger blocked a Screaming Eagles long field goal attempt and Wafford returned it six yards to give the Danger an early 14-0 lead. Wafford's return helped give Nebraska a lead that they would never relinquish. In addition to Wafford's early return for a touchdown, he also led the team with 12 tackles and a half tackle for loss. Wafford's 12 tackles were the most in the IFL during Week 1. The Nebraska Danger take on the Wichita Falls Nighthawks in Week 2.
