Grand Island, NE - The six-time reigning IFL champs are coming to Grand Island this Saturday as the Sioux Falls Storm take on the Nebraska Danger at the Heartland Events Center. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
The Danger are coming off a short week after picking up their second road victory on Sunday against the Colorado Crush, 54-36.
The two offenses traded punches in the first half, with the Crush scoring with 3 seconds to go in the half to make the game a one-possession game at halftime, 28-24. A strong defensive showing in the second half allowed the Danger offense to stretch their lead as the Crush were only able to put up 12 points after the break.
Quarterback Derrick Bernard was named as the IFL's Offensive Player of the Week after completing 13 of 22 passes for 143 yards and six touchdowns. Bernard also rushed for 57 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns. He currently leads the IFL with 10 rushing touchdowns the season, six more than any other player.
"Derrick had a good game," Danger head coach Hurtis Chinn said. "I'm very happy with how he has been doing, and I'm happy that we were able to get Dello Davis involved more in the offense this week."
Receiver Dello Davis led the Danger receiving corps with 4 catches for 67 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Storm are coming off a bye week last week. Before the bye, they cruised to a 51-26 victory over the Cedar Rapids Titans. Two main pieces for the Storm are back this season, quarterback Lorenzo Brown and linebacker Tyler Knight. Sioux Falls is 2-0 this season after also picking up a win at Arizona against the Rattlers in week 1.
Kickoff is set for 7 pm on Saturday night at the Heartland Events Center. Doors open at 6:00 with pre-game activities beginning at 6:30.
Tickets for Saturday night are available at area Pump & Pantry stores, the Heartland Events Center Box Office, or via Ticketmaster.
