Nighthawks Stay Perfect, Drop Titans 42-23

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - Charles McCullum tossed a touchdown pass to Tyron Laughinghouse on the final play of the first quarter and the Wichita Falls Nighthawks never looked back in recording their fourth straight win to open the 2017 season.

The Nighthawks (4-0) led 10-3 after McCullum's 3-yard hookup with Laughinghouse and upped the lead to 17-3 on the next possession.  A team effort of offense, defense and special teams was evident throughout in a 42-23 victory over the Cedar Rapids Titans (0-3) in Indoor Football League action at the U.S. Cellular Center.

McCullum finished the game completing 22 of 30 passes for 186 yards with two TDs and one interception. Angelo Pease had TD runs of 1 and 10 yards and first-team IFL kicker Rockne Belmonte was true on 4 of 5 field goals and all four PAT kicks.

Troy Evans led the passing attack with eight catches for 76 yards for the Nighthawks, who have next week off before facing the six-time defending United Bowl Champions, the Sioux Falls Storm.

Titans QB Brion Carnes led the way for the Titans throwing for 119 yards and 3 TDs and rushing for 51 yards.  Newly acquired LB Robert Haynes paced the defense with 12 tackles and 1 sack.  The Titans will be back in action next week when they host the Green Bay Blizzard.
