Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Barnstormers (11-2) look for its tenth win in a row as they take on the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles (4-9) on Friday, June 2, 2017. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. CST at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah.
Last week, the Barnstormers moved into first place in the division after blowing out the Green Bay Blizzard 64-12 last Friday night. Quarterback Travis Partridge scored six total touchdowns with five coming through the air. Receiver Brady Roland hauled in three of those scores, while Lucas Hefty caught the other two. The Barnstormers also used its ground attack as running back Keshaudas Spence ran in two touchdowns, while Partridge and receiver Ryan Balentine had one apiece. Defensively, Iowa held Green Bay to only 103 total yards on offense. Linebacker Javicz Jones had a game-high 16 tackles, while defensive end Ra'Shawde Myers tallied three sacks. Myers was not the only one getting to the Blizzard quarterback as linebacker Zachary Allen and defensive lineman B.J Butler and Keith Jones Jr. each had one sack.
Last week, the Screaming Eagles defeated the Cedar Rapids Titans at home 64-27 on Monday. Salt Lake picked up its fourth win of the season by using its rushing attack to score four rushing touchdowns. Running back Lucien Walker scored two touchdowns, while Chris Robinson and James Poole had one apiece. Salt Lake's defense picked off Cedar Rapids four times in the contest with corner James Calhoun hauling in three of those four. Also, cornerback Ed Burns had a team-high eight tackles for the Screaming Eagles.
