Rattlers Trample Titans 56-25

Phoenix, Ariz.- The five-time champion Arizona Rattlers (11-4) take down the Cedar Rapids Titans (1-14) 56-25 in their final home game of the 2017 regular season at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in front of 13,251 fans.

With this victory, the Rattlers extend their win streak to seven games.

"Our guys are playing tough," General Manager and Head Coach Kevin Guy said. "I am really proud of our youth and putting ourselves in a position to play for a championship."

Arizona's offense was led by RB Ketrich Harmon who ran for 73 yards on 12 attempts and scored three touchdowns. Quarterback Cody Sokol went five-for-nine with 43 yards and two touchdowns.

"It's about competition," Harmon stated after the game. "We are driving ourselves to be better."

Defensive back Allen Chapman led the Rattlers defense against the Titans, intercepting two passes and breaking up two others while recording eight tackles. Arizona only allowed 37 yards rushing and recorded three sacks, four tackles for loss, and two interceptions.

"We are a physical football team," Guy said. "When you pressure them upfront, and you pressure them in back, good things are going to happen."

"Our coach has been preaching all year," Chapman said. "Pressure-pick-cover-sack. That is what we try to incorporate in our defense."

On special teams, K Sawyer Petre was a perfect eight-for-eight on points after (PATs). Petre has not missed a PAT since April 14 against Salt Lake.The Titans scored the first points of the game when Carnes threw a six-yard touchdown pass to WR Tre Parmalee.

Harmon put Arizona on the board on the following possession by taking a handoff from Sokol seven yards for the score.The first points of the second quarter came from an eight-yard touchdown pass from Sokol to Rattlers RB Darrel Monroe.

Carnes responded on the following possession by throwing a 35-yard touchdown pass to Cedar Rapids WR Damon Powell.On the following drive, the Rattlers scored on a three-yard rush from Ketrich Harmon.Directly after an interception from Allen Chapman, Jamal Miles ran for a nine-yard touchdown, giving Arizona a two-possession lead.

The final points of the first half was a 17-yard touchdown pass from Sokol to Rattlers WR Anthony Amos.

The only score in the third quarter happened when Monroe rushed for a five-yard touchdown to put the Rattlers up by 29.Carnes connected with WR Connor Hollenbeck for a 35-yard score for the first points of the fourth quarter by the Titans.

WR Jamal Miles responded on the following drive by scoring on a two-yard handoff from Rattlers QB Jon Wolf.The Titans scored on the next possession when Powell caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Carnes

With two minutes left in the game, Harmon rushed for an eight-yard touchdown, putting an exclamation point on the Rattlers victory.

The Rattlers will now head to Fort Collins, Colorado on Friday, June 16th to take on the Colorado Crush (3-12) in the final of the regular season. The Crush are coming off a last second loss against the Wichita Falls Nighthawks (12-3). The game will be streamed online on YouTube Live.
