The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 1 of the 2018 IFL season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Drew Powell (QB, Iowa Barnstormers)
The Iowa Barnstormers scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to put away the Green Bay Blizzard 41-20 during opening weekend of the 2018 season. Picking up where he left off at the end of the 2017 season, QB Drew Powell (6'3,220, Livingstone College) again showed why he is one of the most exciting players in the IFL. Against one of the top pass defenses from last season, Powell completed 20 of 26 passes for a league-high 208 yards and four touchdowns. After posting 13 rushing touchdowns in the last four games of 2017, Powell continued to show that he is a threat on the ground as he added 48 rushing yards as well. The Iowa Barnstormers enjoy a Week 2 bye before hosting the Arizona Rattlers on March 10.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Myke Tavarres (LB, Nebraska Danger)
The Nebraska Danger started off new Head Coach Mark Stoute's tenure with a 44-31 victory over Stoute's former team, the Cedar Rapids Titans. Home of the last two IFL Defensive Rookies of the Year, the Danger continued to receive strong play from rookies in the form LB Myke Tavarres. Tavarres (6'2,225, Univ. of Incarnate Word) set the defensive tone early for the Danger as he recorded a sack on the game's first play from scrimmage. Tavarres then went on to be a force across the field as he recorded 13 total tackles, and two tackles for loss. Tavarres' 13 tackles tied him for the most in the IFL in Week 1. The Nebraska Danger enjoy a Week 2 bye before hosting the Green Bay Blizzard on March 11.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cody Barber (K, Iowa Barnstormers)
After signing with the Barnstormers at the end of last season, Barber returned to the team in 2018 and has been named IFL Week 1 Special Teams Player of the Week. Barber was nothing but perfect in Iowa's 41-20 victory over the Green Bay Blizzard. The Iowa Kicker converted two out of two field goals and was a perfect five for five on extra points. Barber's two field goals in the second quarter helped Iowa build a seven point lead going into halftime, and a lead the team would never relinquish. Barber totaled 11 points on the night. Iowa has a Week 2 bye before hosting the Arizona Rattlers in the team's home opener on March 10.
