The Sioux Falls Storm (12-3) will face the Iowa Barnstormers (12-3) in 2018 United Bowl Championship on Saturday, July 7. Kickoff is slated for 7:05 PM (CT) at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Storm defeated the Arizona Rattlers during the first round of playoffs to advance to their ninth consecutive United Bowl. In that game, quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed 13 out of his 22 attempts for 167 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Brown also rushed for 72 yards and three touchdowns. Kicker Miles Bergner was perfect on the night, hitting two field goals and nine extra points. Kick returner Damond Powell had 176 return yards and one touchdown. Defensive back Damond Smith II led the Thunder Defense with 13 total tackles. Linebacker Dezmin Reed had one pass break-up and one block. Defensive linemen Claude Davis and Louis Palmer had .5 sack.
The Sioux Falls Storm look to claim their eleventh championship in franchise history while the Iowa Barnstormers look for their first IFL championship.
The Iowa Barnstormers defeated the Nebraska Danger 48-17 to advance to the United Bowl. QB Drew Powell was named IFL MVP and Head Coach Dixie Wooten was named IFL Coach of the Year earlier this week. In addition, DB Bryce Enyard was named Defensive Player of the Year. Both the Storm and the Barnstormers had eight players named to the All-IFL list at the end of the season.
This should be a close game with two of the three games this season have been decided by seven points or less. Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs said "Every time we have played each other, the game has been exciting and I would expect nothing less with the fourth matchup."
