MOLINE, IL. – Quad City Steamwheelers officials announced today they have joined the Indoor Football League (IFL), for the 2019 IFL season. The Steamwheelers played in the Champions Indoor Football League this season after a nine-year hiatus from competition. The Quad City franchise won the "Fan Base" of the year and broke attendance figures for the CIF and the move to the nation's premier league (IFL) will match perfectly.
"We are thrilled to be part of the IFL," said Team Owner Doug Bland. "The Quad City fans will now get to see old rivals like the Iowa Barnstormers and the Green Bay Blizzard as well as teams that have been around for 25+ years like the Arizona Rattlers," said Bland.
The IFL is just as excited to gain a franchise like Quad Cities which fits their business model as well as their geographical footprint.
"The IFL and the other IFL owners saw what Doug and Crystal Bland did with the QC franchise in 2018 and knew that they were people we wanted to have part of our League," said IFL Commissioner Mike Allshouse.
When asked about the future of the League, Bland responded with, "I feel like we have a better opportunity all around to build a long-term sustainable business with the IFL and the strong group of owners they have."
