Following one of the most competitive seasons ever in the Indoor Football League, the field for the 2021 IFL Playoffs has been set. The 2021 IFL Playoffs will kickoff next Saturday, August 28, with three first-round matchups, followed by the final game of Round 1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Arizona Rattlers (12-2) locked up the No. 1 overall seed and the opportunity to have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs with a 55-38 win over the Frisco Fighters in the final regular season game of the season. The showdown for the top spot featured the two teams with the league’s best records heading into Week 18, with the Rattlers prevailing thanks to quarterback Drew Powell’s 167 yards through the air on 14-of-19 passing and three touchdowns.
The Massachusetts Pirates locked in the second seed after a dominant win over the Iowa Barnstormers, 55-19. The victory also marked the Pirates eighth-straight win. The Barnstormers will go into the playoffs as the No. 4 seed.
In the IFL Game of the Week on Stadium, the Sioux Falls Storm locked a playoff spot at the No. 8 seed with a 58-33 victory over the Green Bay Blizzard.
The Duke City Gladiators took down the Bismarck Bucks, 57-45, to position themselves at the No. 5 seed, while the Bucks will go in at the No. 7 spot.
The No. 1 seed Arizona Rattlers will host the eighth-seeded Sioux Falls Storm at 5:05 p.m. CT on Sunday, August 29.
The second-seeded Massachusetts Pirates host the No. 7 seed Bismarck Bucks at 6:05 p.m. CT on Saturday, August 28.
No. 3 seed Frisco Fighters host No. 6 seed Spokane Shock at 7:05 p.m. CT on Saturday, August 28.
Fourth-seeded Iowa Barnstormers host No. 5 seed Duke City at 7:05 p.m. CT on Saturday August 28.
The two second-round contests will played the weekend of September 3-5, with the highest-seeded team remaining in the 2021 IFL Playoffs hosting the lowest remaining seeded team and the second-highest remaining team hoisting the third-highest remaining seed.
