PHOENIX, AZ – The Indoor Football League announced Friday that Arizona Rattlers Head Coach Kevin Guy has been named the 2021 IFL Coach of the Year.

Guy led the Rattlers to a league best 12-2 regular season record in 2021, including a perfect 7-0 record at home. This marks the fourth time Guy has been named Coach of the Year during his head coaching career, and the first IFL Coach of the Year honor for Guy since the Rattlers joined the IFL in 2017.

“Winning the IFL Coach of the Year award is quite an accomplishment when you consider the great group of coaches that coached in our league this season,” said IFL Commissioner Todd Tryon. “This is a well-deserved honor and I congratulate Coach Guy and his staff for the great season they have had.”

Under Guy’s leadership, the Rattlers not only had the best regular season record in 2021, but also tied for the most players on the 2021 All-IFL teams. This season his Rattlers advanced to the United Bowl for the third time in the past four seasons.

“It’s always very humbling to be thought of by your colleagues across the IFL,” Guy said. “I’ve always considered this an organizational award. My assistant coaches, staff, and, of course, the players have all played a huge part in our success in 2021. It’s been fun to lead our team this season.”

In 12 seasons at the helm of the Rattlers, Guy has led Arizona to the playoffs each season and has won four league championships (2012, 2013, 2014, 2017). Guy’s career record as a head coach is 225-72 (.758) all-time.

The Rattlers, seeded first in the 2021 IFL Playoffs, will play for the IFL Championship in the United Bowl against the Massachusetts Pirates on Sunday at the Footprint Center in Phoenix. Arizona is seeking its second United Bowl championship, while the Pirates advanced to the title game in their first season in the IFL.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5:10 p.m. CT and can be seen live worldwide on Stadium and the entire Stadium digital platform. The game can also be watched on the IFL’s Youtube channel.
