KNIGHT HAWKS VICTORIOUS IN FRANCHISE DEBUT
Vegas, NV – The Vegas Knight Hawks defeated the Northern Arizona Wranglers, 22-9, in their inaugural game at The Dollar Loan Center on March 18.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
The Knight Hawks were first to get on the board. Local product CJ Jones secured an early interception that led to a field goal by Nathan Criswell which were the first points in franchise history. The Wranglers answered back five minutes later with a successful field goal of their own to even the game. After a low scoring first quarter, Jaylon Henderson entered the game at quarterback in relief of Dalton Sneed. Jaylon's first completion was a strike to KD Cannon to gain a first down. The two connected again shortly after for the first touchdown in Vegas Knight Hawks history. It was all defense after that as the Knight Hawks forced three turnovers and held the Wranglers to just nine points in what will go down as the first win in franchise history.
Jaylon Henderson finished the game with eight completions for 71 yards and one touchdown in the win. He also rushed for 24 yards and added another touchdown on the ground.
The Knight Hawks displayed a dynamic defensive effort in their debut as they held the Wranglers to zero third down conversions in the game. Javahn Ferguson recorded a team high 5.5 tackles as UNLV product Gabe McCoy and local product CJ Jones each finished 4.5 tackles in the win.
Wranglers quarterback, Kaleb Barker, completed five passes for 35 yards. He had two interceptions and added a rushing touchdown as well. Their kicker, Brandon Torres, connected on one field goal in the loss.
