BLIZZARD EMERGE VICTORIOUS OVER PIRATES

Green Bay, WI – The Green Bay Blizzard hosted the Massachusetts Pirates on Saturday, which turned out to come down to a nail biting last drive of overtime.
Massachusetts came out strong scoring in the 6th minute of play when Thomas Owens caught a 5-yard pass. Massachusetts was able to keep Green Bay from scoring in the first quarter, while they were able to get one more touchdown with 1 minute and 43 seconds left in the first quarter. However, in the second quarter, Nick Jaworski was able to put the Blizzard on the scoreboard making a 23-yard field goal. It did not take long for the Pirates to respond with Thomas Owens catching a 12-yard pass for his second touchdown of the night. Keshaun Taylor was able to score Green Bay’s first touchdown with a 12-yard pass from Jack Sheehan. Finishing of the first half with a score of 17-10 Pirates in the lead. Massachusetts looked to extend their lead even more with Thomas Owens catching a 5-yard pass in the tenth minute of the third quarter. His third touchdown of the night. Starting of the fourth and what was supposed to be the final quarter of the night, Green Bay’s quarterback, Jack Sheehan ran the ball 3- yards for a touchdown. With just over a minute left in the fourth quarter Jack Sheehan ran the ball 9-yards to give the Blizzard the lead for the first time of the game. However, Martez Carter from the Pirates took the lead back with ten seconds left. On a hail marry pass, with no time left on the clock Jack Sheehan threw a 36-yard pass to Dez Stewart, forcing the game into overtime.
On their overtime drive the Blizzard took the lead with Jack Sheehan scoring his third touchdown, running the ball 1-yard. When it was the Pirates drive, Green Bay’s defense stepped up and were able to keep the Pirates from scoring. Green Bay won the game 38-31, ended Massachusetts 14 game win streak.
