KNIGHT HAWKS FALL SHORT AFTER LOSS TO DUKE CITY GLADIATORS
The Vegas Knight Hawks fell to the Duke City Gladiators, 47-21, Sunday evening at The Dollar Loan Center.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
The Gladiators got on the board first with QB Ramone Atkins connecting to Gregory Dent Jr. for a touchdown. Dent Jr. went back in the game on the defensive side of the ball and came up with the pick six for the Duke City. A handful of miscues from Vegas helped Duke City extend their lead with a fumble and a safety – which led to a touchdown from Atkins, as well as connecting with Jared Elmore. VKH QB Jerod Evans helped cut the lead with a touchdown pass to Kasey Allison going into the half. At the start of the half, Duke continued their momentum with another touchdown to Jerod Elmore from Atkins. Evans responded with a touchdown of his own. The Gladiators offense continued to put the ball in the endzone through the final quarter. Cameron Dukes stepped into the game and delivered a strike to Dez Epps, but, in the end, the lead was too significant for Vegas to overcome.
Even though the result was not in the Knight Hawks favor, Evans and Dukes both had a good display. Jerod went 9 for 18 for 44 yards with one passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown, while Cameron Dukes went 4-6 with a touchdown pass. Jeff Ejekam had four receptions for 34 yards. Dez Epps and Kasey Allison both had a touchdown pass.
Atkins threw 11-15 for 113 yards and 4 passing touchdowns, with a rushing touchdowns as well, for the Gladiators. Dent Jr. finished the game with four receptions for 59 yards and two touchdowns.
