Duke City held a two-possession advantage not long into the fourth frame, appearing poised to knock the host Fighters off.

The Gladiators soon became the latest team to learn not to let Frisco have the football last.

TJ Edwards barreled past the goal-line, landing within a mass of bodies as time ran out on the contest, earning a 47-46 victory, his team’s fifth triumph in a row.

Edwards, who with a 60-yard total was the game’s leading rusher, played a big part in the come-from-behind effort.

His touchdown strike to Jerminic Smith with 11:53 to go pulled the Fighters (10-2) within a score after the guests’ Ramone Atkins connected with Dello Davis on the first play from scrimmage in the final period.

Edwards had a passing touchdown that opened scoring matters early on, too. He also found the endzone on the ground once more, while Justin Rankin hit paydirt twice.

This was the Fighters’ second one-point victory over the Gladiators (6-6), the first coming in April.

The Fighters will look to keep steady on a trip to square off with the Iowa Barnstormers next Saturday. After that, Frisco closes the regular season with three consecutive home matchups.
