BLIZZARD FALL TO STORM IN BACK AND FORTH BATTLE

The Green Bay Blizzard fell to the Sioux Falls Storm, 47-55, in front of a record crowd at the Resch Center in Green Bay Friday night. 

 

Sioux Falls jumped out to an early three-point lead when former Blizzard kicker Nick Jaworski hit a 50-yard field goal. 

 

With just over four minutes left in the first quarter Green Bay got on the board, when Blizzard quarterback Ja’rome Johnson connected with Marquise Irvin for a touchdown. 

 

Sioux Falls ended the first quarter with a Lorenzo Brown touchdown run, taking a 10-6 lead into the second period. 

 

The teams traded touchdowns, putting up a combined 40 points in the second quarter. Johnson scrambled for a touchdown and Blizzard running back Terrence Smith rushed for two touchdowns.

 

Sioux Falls scored a touchdown with one second left, taking a 29-27 lead into halftime. 

 

The Storm opened up the second half with another Brown touchdown, extending their lead to 35-27. 

 

With 6:30 left in the third, Johnson took the first play of the Blizzard drive to the house on a 41-yard rush, getting Green Bay back within one, 35-34. 

 

After a Sioux Falls touchdown with just under three minutes left in the third, Johnson connected with Irvin on a 29-yard bomb, again pulling the Blizzard back within one point. 

 

However, the Storm returned the ensuing kickoff, extending their lead to 48-40. Shaq Curenton caught a touchdown with under 12 minutes to go in the fourth, making the score 48-47. 

 

From there, it was all Sioux Falls. The Storm recovered an onside kick and Lorenzo Brown punched in another touchdown to seal the game, giving Sioux Falls a road win.
