Playing host to the Sioux Falls Storm Saturday night, the Fighters posted 42 unanswered points to break a 7-7 score and continue their season-long success at home.
Frisco improved to 12-2 on the year with a 56-15 win ahead of its regular-season finale against the Iowa Barnstormers on July 15.
Martez Carter opened the scoring with a 13-yard surge about three minutes into the contest, to which Sioux Falls’ Lorenzo Brown responded with a rushing score of his own five minutes later.
Over the next quarter and a half, TJ Edwards would connect with Phazione McClurge, Jordan Jolly, and Charles Headen (twice) for touchdown strikes.
Kyle Meyers’ 47-yard pick-six in the third quarter stretched the Fighters’ lead to 34 points, then Noah Johnson added a ground score before that frame was through.
The visitors finally got back on the board early in the final quarter, but Frisco’s second pick-six — this time by Kordell Jackson — put an exclamation mark on the Fighters’ fourth triumph in a row.
Frisco’s defense limited the Storm (7-6) to just 110 yards of total offense. Sioux Falls converted only one of nine third down situations.
The Fighters move on to play Iowa, who they haven’t lost to in three tries.
