The Iowa Barnstormers have announced the return of defensive lineman Tyler Tate for his third season with the team.

Tate (6’4, 255 lbs) made an immediate impact during his rookie season, appearing in all 16 games and recording 54.5 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. His power and consistency on the defensive front helped anchor the Barnstormers’ defensive unit.

In his second season, Tate continued to elevate his play, again appearing in all 16 games and posting 60.5 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, two sacks, and two pass breakups. Demonstrating his versatility, Tate even stepped in at quarterback on three occasions — rushing each time and finding the end zone once.

A proven leader on and off the field, Tate’s return adds valuable experience, versatility, and toughness to the Barnstormers’ defense heading into the upcoming season.
