BARNSTORMERS FALL TO STEAMWHEELERS IN HOME OPENER

Barnstormers Drop Home Opener to Undefeated Steamwheelers

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Barnstormers fell to 0-2 on the young season Saturday, dropping their home opener 52-38 to the Quad City Steamwheelers, who improved to 3-0.

Wide receiver Keshaun Taylor wasted no time putting Iowa on the board, scoring on the team's first play of the game.

The Steamwheelers answered immediately, scoring on their opening drive before returning an interception to the Iowa 2-yard line.

Quad City led 21-10 at halftime and struck first in the second half to extend its lead to 28-10.

Wideout Khaleb Hood recorded his first touchdown of the night on a pass from quarterback Joaquin Collazo III, trimming Iowa’s deficit to 28-16.

Collazo added a rushing touchdown and connected again with both Hood and Taylor for additional scores, but the Barnstormers were unable to mount a full comeback.

Iowa will face Quad City again next week, this time on the road in the third game of the regular season.

The Barnstormers will return home on Saturday, April 26, following a bye week.
