Blizzard Sign FCS All-Conference Offensive Lineman

Offensive lineman Joe Kupcikevicius, who drew buzz as a potential NFL free agent signee last spring, has signed with the Green Bay Blizzard, head coach and general manager Corey Roberson announced.

Kupcikevicius, 6-5 and 310 pounds, finished his collegiate career at NCAA Division II program Azusa Pacific, where his position coach was legendary NFL Hall-of-Fame offensive lineman Jackie Slater.

"Joe is a big-bodied, aggressive lineman who goes after people," Roberson said. "After his final college season, he was getting legitimate interest from NFL teams. The fact that he was coached for two years by an NFL Hall-of-Fame lineman is evident, as he is technically sound."

Following each of his two seasons at Azusa, Kupcikevicius earned first-team all-conference recognition. Following his senior season, he blocked and protected for an offense that averaged 458 yards per game.

Indeed, a headline on said, "Kupcikevicius gets buzz as dark horse prospect." In an interview with the, Kupcikevicius described his play as "aggressive, focused and angry."

Coming out of high school, the Illinois native signed with South Dakota State, where he sat during a redshirt season. He enrolled at Mt. San Antonio College, a JUCO, where he played for two years and earned first-team all-conference honors after his second season.
