Blizzard Add Former UAB Defensive Lineman

Teko Powell, a 300- pounder with great strength and four years of NCAA Division I college experience, is the latest player to sign with the Green Bay Blizzard, head coach and general manager Corey Roberson announced.

Powell, a powerful defensive tackle, played his first three seasons at Illinois of the Big Ten conference before transferring to the University of Alabama-Birmingham of Conference USA for his final season (2017). Following that year, he was named honorable mention All-CUSA after making 23 tackles, including 4.5 for loss.

"Teko is another big-bodied athlete with great strength, a player we expect to help us win that all-important line of scrimmage," said Roberson. "He also has a lot of big-time college experience under his belt. He has gone head-to-head with some very good college offensive linemen and more than held his own.

Powell, a native of Florida, was measured at 6-2 ¾ and 306 pounds at a combine, but has been listed as big as 320 by other sites. Prior to UAB's bowl game against Ohio his senior year, "The Sporting News" wrote, "Powell has great size, and the majority of his bulk is distributed in his quads and base. Powell is an extremely strong player who has good athleticism and lateral movement ability, and he combines these two traits to stack and shed players at the line of scrimmage with ease."

During his sophomore season at Illinois, Powell had 22 tackles and a sack. As a senior at UAB, he played arguably his best collegiate game, with four tackles in a game at SEC team Florida.
