Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Barnstormers kick off their 2019 Indoor Football League (IFL) regular season when they travel to Moline, Illinois to face the Quad City Steamwheelers (1-0) on Sunday, March 3, 2019. Kickoff is set for 3:05 p.m. CST at the TaxSlayer Center.
In a game that carries a lot of history, the Barnstormers will go head to head against the Steamwheelers on March 3 for the first time in ten years.
The Iowa Barnstormers were crowned United Bowl Champions at the end of the 2018 season and will defend their title all season long. The Barnstormers return several key players including 2018 Second-Team All-IFL DB Jourdan Wickliffe and fellow DB Tyrell Pearson. Wickliffe and Pearson were big contributors on the Barnstormers defense last season. Also returning on defense is DL BJ Butler who kicks off his third season with the team.
On offense, the Barnstormers bring back 2018 United Bowl MVP WR Ryan Balentine. Balentine has been a staple of the Barnstormers offense for the past two seasons, finishing the 2018 season with 58 passes for 645 yards and 13 touchdowns.
In week one, the Iowa Barnstormers were on a bye week while the Quad City Steamwheelers earned a 67-49 victory at home against the San Diego Strike Force.
