CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – The Cedar Rapids River Kings has announced the hiring of Victor Mann as the team's new head coach for the 2020 IFL season.
Mann joins the River Kings after spending the last four seasons in the Champions Indoor Football league. He led his team to three straight conference championship games and winning the championship in 2017. Mann was named Coach of the Year in 2016. Prior to being a head coach in indoor football, Mann served as Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator of Texas College in Tyler, Texas.
"We felt it was important to get a coach with a winning record and mentality to help move this franchise in a positive direction," said River Kings General Manager, Reggie Harris. "In his time as a head coach he has been known to build winning teams while being a great recruiter and staying active in the community. He fits with the culture we are building here and we expect to see big things immediately."
While playing under Hall of Fame Coach Bill Snyder at Kansas State University, Mann's mentality was shaped as a player and coach. As a standout running back for the Wildcats, he was named an All Big 12 selection for three consecutive years. Mann was awarded Offensive MVP in 2005. He was also named to the American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team, which recognizes college athletes for community service. His post-collegiate play included spots on the Kansas City Chiefs roster, followed by five seasons playing in the Arena Football League.
"It's time to go full TeamNoSoft," expressed Mann. "I'm excited for this new coaching venture and ready to compete with the best."
