Week Two of the Indoor Football League delivered everything fans could ask for. Statement wins, late game drama, explosive offensive performances and a pair of finishes that came down to the final seconds shaped a weekend that reset the early season landscape. With several teams making their season debuts and others looking to build momentum, Week Two showed how quickly things can shift across the league.
Iowa Barnstormers vs. Quad City Steamwheelers
Final: Quad City 46, Iowa 25
Quad City entered Week Two looking to avoid an 0–2 start, and the Steamwheelers delivered exactly the response they needed. Behind a four touchdown performance from quarterback Daquan Neal, Quad City surged past Iowa 46 to 25 in a game that flipped sharply in the second quarter.
Iowa opened with early momentum. Quarterback Harry Roubidoux found a rhythm on the opening drives, and kicker Gabriel Reed connected on field goals from 30 and 36 yards. Wide receiver Kurtis Ravenel gave the Barnstormers a spark with a 30 yard receiving touchdown, helping Iowa build a 15 to 13 lead late in the second quarter.
But Quad City's offense erupted from that point on. Neal found wide receiver Jarrod Ware twice for receiving touchdowns, hit wide receiver Quian Williams for another score, and added a rushing touchdown of his own. The Steamwheelers closed the half with 17 unanswered points, including a 38 yard field goal from kicker Jan Bogdan as time expired.
Neal finished with 149 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and a rushing score, while Ware and Williams combined for 97 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. Iowa struggled to keep pace as Roubidoux threw three interceptions, two of them hauled in by defensive back Kevin Ransom Jr., who led a defense that forced four total turnovers.
Quad City's surge across the middle quarters proved decisive, giving the Steamwheelers their first win of the season and sending Iowa to 0–1 in its opener.
Fishers Freight vs. Green Bay Blizzard
Final: Green Bay 51, Fishers 42
Green Bay continued its strong start to the season with a 51 to 42 win over Fishers in a high tempo shootout that showcased two of the league's most explosive offenses. Quarterback Liam Thompson powered the Blizzard with three passing touchdowns and four rushing touchdowns, accounting for all seven of Green Bay's scores.
The Blizzard stormed out to a 13 to 0 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 35 to 16 by halftime. Thompson's command of the offense was evident early, connecting with wide receiver Draysean Hudson and wide receiver Isaac Ross for big receiving gains while using his legs to finish drives inside the red zone.
Fishers refused to fold. Quarterback Felix Harper responded with three passing touchdowns and a rushing score, leaning on wide receiver CJ Windham and wide receiver Isaiah Coulter to chip away at the deficit. Running back Josiah King added two rushing touchdowns and 70 kickoff return yards, helping the Freight climb back within one score late in the third quarter.
But every time Fishers threatened, Thompson answered. His fourth rushing touchdown of the night pushed the lead back to two possessions, and kicker Andrew Mevis added a late field goal to seal the win.
Green Bay's defense came up with two key interceptions, including one by defensive back Giovanni Waller, preventing Fishers from completing the comeback. The Blizzard improved to 2–0, while Fishers dropped to 1–1 after a strong road effort.
Orlando Pirates vs. New Mexico Chupacabras
Final: Orlando 41, New Mexico 38
In one of the most dramatic games of the weekend, Orlando earned its first win of the season with a 41 to 38 road victory over New Mexico. The Pirates leaned on a balanced attack and timely defensive plays to outlast a Chupacabras offense led by quarterback Tykorian Brown.
Orlando struck first behind quarterback Paxton DeLaurent, who completed 17 of 20 passes and spread the ball across a deep receiving group. Wide receiver Thomas Owens led the way with 45 receiving yards and a touchdown, while wide receiver Teo Redding and wide receiver Nyqwan Murray combined for 41 receiving yards.
New Mexico countered with explosive plays of its own. Johnson threw four passing touchdowns, including two to wide receiver Arthur Challenor, who finished with 104 receiving yards. Running back Keontay Shorter added a 45 yard rushing touchdown that energized the home crowd.
The Pirates took control in the second quarter with back to back short field touchdowns, including a 29 yard rushing touchdown from running back Dante Wright. Running back Pooka Williams added 43 rushing yards and a touchdown, helping Orlando build a narrow lead entering halftime.
New Mexico rallied in the third quarter, tying the game behind Johnson's fourth passing touchdown. But Orlando's defense delivered in the fourth, with defensive linemen Mike Mason and Devin Brandt-Epps each recording a tackle for loss that stalled a late Chupacabras drive.
DeLaurent guided a nine play, 45 yard touchdown march in the final minutes, capped by a go ahead score and an Axel Perez extra point. Orlando's defense held on the final possession, securing a hard earned road win.
Northern Arizona Wranglers vs. San Diego Strike Force
Final: San Diego 42, Northern Arizona 40
San Diego and Northern Arizona delivered the game of the week, a back and forth battle that was not decided until the final seconds. The Strike Force edged the Wranglers 42 to 40 behind a dominant performance from running back Edward Vander and a steady outing from quarterback Nate Davis.
Northern Arizona opened strong with quarterback Ramone Atkins leading two early touchdown drives, including a strike to wide receiver Marlon Cook Jr. and a rushing touchdown of his own. San Diego answered every punch. Vander rushed for four touchdowns and 63 rushing yards, consistently breaking tackles and finishing drives with power. Davis added 176 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, leaning on wide receiver Jalen Sample, who caught 10 passes for 93 receiving yards and two scores.
The teams traded touchdowns throughout the second half. Northern Arizona tied the game with eight seconds left on a short rushing touchdown, but the two point conversion attempt failed, leaving the Wranglers two points short of overtime.
San Diego recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock, securing its first win of the season in dramatic fashion and improving to 1–1.
