SAN DIEGO HOLDS ON TO BEAT TULSA

The Strike Force and Oilers went back and forth all game long, with the last play deciding the game. San Diego outlasted Tulsa 56-55, to improve their record to (4-6). Jeremy Reynolds missed an 18-yard field goal as time expired, dropping the Oilers to (1-9) on the year.

Nate Davis had another great game passing for 239 yards and six touchdowns, but Edward Vander stole the show. Vander ended as the Strike Force’s leading rusher and receiver, accumulating 48 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and 107 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

San Diego’s defense didn’t get many stops, but they stepped up when needed. The defense was able to keep Tulsa’s rushing attack to negative yards, -10 yards. With less than 30 seconds to go in the game, David Haney broke up a key play in the end zone that resulted in a crucial offensive pass interference on the Oilers, that backed them up to the Tulsa 22 yard line. Penalties plagued both teams today, 19 for the Strike Force and 16 for the Oilers respectively.

Kevin Goessling nailed a deuce in the second quarter, narrowly missing another, for his second home game in a row.

Tulsa heads home and will look to right the ship against the Iowa Barnstormers (1-9).

San Diego will try to even the series with the Northern Arizona Wranglers (5-5) at home next Sunday at Pechanga Arena.
