IFL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS PREVIEW

Just four teams remain in the IFL’s march to crown its champion. The final Eastern Conference game of the season will feature Frisco Fighters hosting the Sioux Falls Storm. The Western Conference culminates with the defending champion Northern Arizona Wranglers traveling to visit the Bay Area Panthers.

Frisco dominated last week against Quad City, putting the Steamwheelers in a 30-0 hole midway through the second quarter. The Fighters will look to get that same kind of start this week against the Sioux Falls Storm. The two teams have met twice this season, with Frisco taking both games. The first meeting, in Sioux Falls, was decided by a last second field goal.  The second meeting in Frisco was dominated by the Fighters, winning 56-15.

The Storm has been led by head coach Kurtiss Riggs and Quarterback Lorenzo Brown for many years. This season will be their last, as they have both announced their retirement after 2023. The Storm is coming off two great games, defeating Massachusetts two weeks in a row to earn their spot in the Conference Championship.

MVP Frontrunner, TJ Edwards has been almost impossible to slow down in 2023. He is a true dual threat, having scored a league leading 82 total touchdowns through the air and on the ground this season. Frisco has held the best record in the league all season and look to continue their dominating run.

In the West, Bay Area will host Northern Arizona with a spot in the title game on the line. The teams split their matchups in 2023, with the Wrangles winning their last duel 35-34 in week nine. Since they last met, the Panthers have won six of eight, while the Wranglers have gone an even .500 since May 9th. The Wranglers are coming off a massive upset of the top seeded Arizona Rattlers. While the Panthers have been one of the hottest teams in the league in the second half of the season. They controlled their first-round playoff game against Tucson from start to finish, cruising to a 46-34 win.

Both teams feature powerful offenses and potent defenses with IFL stars throughout both squads. With so much talent on the field and everything on the line, this is bound to be a game to remember.

All the action kicks off on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CT as the Conference Champions will be crowned. Both games can be streamed on the IFL’s YouTube channel.
