The Tulsa Oilers have announced a contract extension for Head Coach Marvin Jones, keeping him at the helm through the 2027 season.
Jones is coming off the most successful regular season in Oilers history, guiding the team to a 10-6 record in 2025 and securing the franchise’s first-ever playoff berth. Entering his third season in Tulsa and eighth as a professional head coach, Jones brings a proven track record of success both as a player and a coach.
His coaching career began in 2014 as the Linebackers Coach for the Brooklyn Bolts of the FXFL, where his defense led the league in every major category en route to a championship. He continued to climb the coaching ranks, serving as Defensive Coordinator for the Hudson Valley Fort in 2015 before joining the New York Jets as a coaching intern for the outside linebackers in 2016 under then-Head Coach Todd Bowles, now leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jones entered the IFL in 2017 as Defensive Coordinator and later Interim Head Coach for the Colorado Crush before moving to the Cedar Rapids Titans in 2018 as Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator, leading the league’s top pass defense.
From 2019 to 2022, Jones served as Head Coach of the Omaha Beef, winning a championship in 2021 and reaching another in 2022 while posting an 18-8 record. He also continues to serve as Defensive Coordinator for the Spiral Tropic Bowl in Daytona, Florida, showcasing top college athletes for NFL and CFL scouts.
With Jones leading the charge, the Oilers look to build on last season’s success and continue making history in 2026 and beyond.
